Essential Oils

Essential oils are the optimal way to use "food" to heal our bodies.  I began my interest in holistic medicine about 5 years ago and have since gained a wealth of knowledge (I've still got lots more to learn).  My parents (all three of them) taught me about taking care of my body and not to be dependent on medicine. Basically using common sense to understand that I can control the health of my body; however, there is a place for modern technology and science in the medical field and am ever grateful for doctors and their work.

What my parents didn't have was the science behind our bodies and how much our thoughts (emotions) as well as our actions have an effect on our body.  Every thought we have in our brain has a physical or chemical make-up in our body.  Our thoughts or emotions produce a chemical which spurs many other reactions in our body such as hormones and have an effect on every function of our body from digestion to disease.

My first introduction to holistic medicine was with herbs that you would grow or purchase and dry to put in a pol trice, tea, directly onto wounds or consume whole.  Essential oils is the simplified and intensified version of herbs.  SO EXCITING. For example one drop of peppermint oil is equal in potency to 13 or so cups of tea. So this food for healing!  Like my kids say, "Oil me up".

Lemon oil is great to add to your ice water.  Don't worry about keeping lemons around, when you can just add a drop when you need it.  Its great for your liver and blood! And as we all know citrus is very uplifting.  Its also a great cleaner-keeps things bright and shiny!

Mom on the RUN!

I have a good friend that has been encouraging me to start running or exercoising  and a few months ago I had met this lady
http://tuffmotherondarun.com/ (check out her blog she is awesome)
and decided that I needed to commit to some sort of exercise pattern.  And I did for about 3 weeks I worked out to the insanity videos and then I went on Christmas vacation and never got back into that routine.  I truly love exercising but have replaced my exercise morning time with scripture reading and piano practice.  I do go on bike rides with the kids and do kid stuff during the day hours and evening hours are spent with my husband so I can't do everything.  But after I get through my basic piano lessons I will be substituting every other day with exercise.  I am so excited!

Quote #5 March 2013

I first off want to apologize for my quote being late and this one is EXTREMELY long; however, I have a semi-good excuse.  Sunday was crazy and yesterday was my birthday.  Yes I am one more year beautiful!  LOL!
 I have been thinking a lot about my relationship with my spouse recently.  Sometimes I think we are just work partners and we get lost in the everyday work of life and raising children but I began to pray and truly wanted to know how we could be more than that, wondering (pleading), “Is this what marriage and family really are? YIKES, I don’t think I’m going to make it!” As I was praying I told my Heavenly Father that I wanted to be Justin’s best friend, someone to play and laugh with and wanted to feel really loved by and to whom I can find ways to love him the way he needs to be loved and guess what, He totally answered my prayers!  I am literally amazed at how the spirit can work for both Justin and I, giving us needed information about the other and helping us to better become closer to God and to each other!
My quotes this month have been random but they have been about things pressing my mind and I just tested another of Heavenly Fathers principles: When you have a righteous desire (like having a closer relationship with your spouse) he will help you!
Maybe you have had similar experiences, bad or good and have had the thought don’t I deserve something better…
“A good woman knows that she does not have enough time, energy, or opportunity to take care of all of the people or do all of the worthy things her heart yearns to do. Life is not calm for most women, and each day seems to require the accomplishment of a million things, most of which are important. A good woman must constantly resist alluring and deceptive messages from many sources telling her that she is entitled to more time away from her responsibilities and that she deserves a life of greater ease and independence.But with personal revelation, she can prioritize correctly and navigate this life confidently.” Sis. Julie B Beck, And Upon thy Handmaids in Those Days will I pour out my Spirit.  (bold added)
I know that we, men and women, can receive the power of the Holy Ghost and have the gift of the Holy Ghost, which will enable us to do way more and understand more than we could do on our own.  I am grateful for the gospel of Jesus Christ and the knowledge that we have of the life after this.  I love the last verse of the Hymn “If you could Hie to Kolob” but included all versus so you could enjoy!  Love you all and have a great week. There truly is no END!
LOVE YOU ALL!
I also wanted to thank those that responded and shared their thoughts and feelings, it was great to feel of your thoughts and lives as we don't get to see you all very often! Thanks for doing that!
 If you could Hie to Kolob Hymn #284
11.     If you could hie to Kolob
In the twinkling of an eye,
And then continue onward
With that same speed to fly,
Do you think that you could ever,
Through all eternity,
Find out the generation
Where Gods began to be?
2. Or see the grand beginning,
Where space did not extend?
Or view the last creation,
Where Gods and matter end?
Methinks the Spirit whispers,
"No man has found 'pure space,'
Nor seen the outside curtains,
Where nothing has a place."
3. The works of God continue,
And worlds and lives abound;
Improvement and progression
Have one eternal round.
There is no end to matter;
There is no end to space;
There is no end to spirit;
There is no end to race.
4. There is no end to virtue;
There is no end to might;
There is no end to wisdom;
There is no end to light.
There is no end to union;
There is no end to youth;
There is no end to priesthood;
There is no end to truth.
5. There is no end to glory;
There is no end to love;
There is no end to being;
There is no death above.
There is no end to glory;
There is no end to love;
There is no end to being;
There is no death above.

The Orange Rhino Challenge

I'm am committing today to do this.  I don't expect perfection but I do expect a miracle and some change.  I will not yell anymore.  There has been weeks that I have gone with out but that is it and it is completely damaging to the spirit in my home and to the hearts of my awesome children as well as my sweet and loving husband.  I know that I can do this, I do it in front of people all day long and its time to show my children how to really learn and grow and be who I want to be.  I don't want to have a guilty feeling any longer.  Yes, I am motivated!  I'll keep you posted on my NO Yelling progress!  I too will be making a pretty big deal with the orange.

I home-school and so for our project today it will be "Go Orange"!!!!
This is the link to her website-she is amazing and brave and a genius for posting this stuff! Love it

GREAT ARTICLE: I’m Gay and I Oppose Same-Sex Marriage | Public Discourse

This is the most interesting article that I have ever read and I wish we could all be as open minded as he is.  The world would have alot less hate and alot more understanding and compromise!  Families are meant to have a mother and father..

Quote #4 March 2013

Quote #4 March 2013

Sometimes a person may feel like just giving up, that their little efforts are worthless or pointless.  And especially as parents life becomes so much more about them, than you, you may feel lost, or your relationship with your spouse-wait what relationship?  Well that’s where the resurrection comes in perfectly.  It may not feel perfectly and those days or weeks or months will come but perseverance is the key. Your relationship with the Savior will address all of these concerns and more…

“Therefore, whoso repenteth and cometh unto me as a little child, him will I receive, for of such is the kingdom of God. Behold, for such I have laid down my life, and have taken it up again; therefore repent, and come unto me ye ends of the earth, and be saved” (3 Nephi 9:21–22).

Quitters never win, and winners NEVER quit! As we base all of our mundane earthly tasks on a perfect and ever loving savior the imperfections around us will seem unimportant and life will begin revolving with peace at your center.

I know that whatever our shortcomings are, as we rely on the atonement, we may or may not have something to repent of but we can use the enabling power of the atonement to love more fully, laugh more joyfully, heal old pains, and press forward with strength and endurance laying a pure foundation for those to come.  I love the gospel, its changes my sad weak heart and mind everyday.  Without it I would be so very lost and confused.  The temporary happiness from earthly pleasures only last so long.  Faith lasts forever!

I Love you all and I LOVE Life!

Easter wreath

Justin made me an egg shaped frame and then i used an old burlap sack; wrapped it around the frame and stuffed it with newspapers. Then I wrapped ribbon around the whole thing. I used old Easter egg shells and wrapped them in the "peaches and cream" brand yarn. Grabbed some random flowers and greens and wha la. So fun. Glad I got one more project finished.

No pinterest browsing = projects completed

Since vowing to not look at pinterest about two months ago. I have accomplished much. There are more coming soon.
I didn't make all the magnet paper dolls, I just put them in a new tin that is smaller and easier to carry around.
The two apple frames I just repainted from green to my beloved navy blue color which I got a whole quart free from Louie's Ace in Fallon.  They were having a paint promotion for clark & kensington brand this last Saturday.
Great fun. All this and homeschool yesterday.  It was an awesome day!

Family Quote #3 2013

Creating Christ Centered Easter Traditions

When Justin and I first started our family, I thought I knew exactly how we would celebrate all of the Holidays; Christmas, New Years, Easter, Fourth of July, but now I realize more than ever that with our two backgrounds we can create a whole new set of traditions.  Some will be the similar and some will be different altogether. With Easter coming in the next couple of weeks, I really wanted to find a way to center our celebrations on Christ and what better place to look than the Ensign and Friend.  They are both filled with awesome ideas.  Of course, I always start thinking about these things a little late but I (I mean we, I’m sure Justin will be more than happy to follow along with my “inspiration”, right-babe?), figured better late than never.  One example that I’m starting tonight is to incorporate Easter into our family home evenings, explain things like what the egg represents and then we can dye them colors.

What are your favorite Easter Traditions that help you and your families think of Christ?

I have a testimony those Christ lives and he atoned for my sins and my pain.  I’m so grateful for the freeing and strengthening knowledge of Christ’s Resurrection. I apply it every hour!!!

1. I need thee ev’ry hour,
Most gracious Lord.
No tender voice like thine
Can peace afford.

2. I need thee ev’ry hour;
Stay thou nearby.
Temptations lose their pow’r
When thou art nigh.

3. I need thee ev’ry hour,
In joy or pain.
Come quickly and abide,
Or life is vain.

4. I need thee ev’ry hour,
Most holy One.
Oh, make me thine indeed,
Thou blessed Son!

[Chorus]
I need thee, oh, I need thee;
Ev’ry hour I need thee!
Oh, bless me now, my Savior;
I come to thee!

Kids & water...

Such a beautiful day how could we keep the hose shut off, now we just need to find the pool...

Dirt & water make...

Yes of course how could I forget that good fun (the best fun) comes with a mess. I love the freedom my kids have.

Old jewlery turned new

So I had some family and friends give me some old jewelry. So I made some new earrings. Love redoing things.  Roslyn said she wants her ears pierced... we'll see. I haven't quit decided what to do along those lines.

Learning co-op

Great learning co-op meeting yesterday.  Had scholastics outside, which was a little cold but we managed to find a nice sunny location.
I am in charge of the 3-5 year old kids. We reviewed our letters song and then glued craft popsicle sticks into the shape of the letter of our first name and then played alphabet don't eat pete with m&m's.
After scholastics we went to the indoor pool in Fallon and had a blast.  Thanks to Kim and Annalee and Jane who helped play and keep an eye on my kids and Zsenean for bringing her awesome floaties!

I love crafting...

I vowed sometime at the beginning of February that I would not look at pinterest until all my current projects were completed and this is what happened. Yeah for me. Only a few more to go... sorta!

Changed Blogspot!

I recently changed my blog at the beginning of this year to make more of a journal of my happenings and doings in my family and of myself. Soon I will be able to put all of my thoughts ideas and aspirations into a colorful book for years of fun to come. Very exciting.  Also I was changing my email address! Lol!

Responsibilty to society and family!

I am a christian women with a strong sense of responsibility to my family and my community. Luckily for me, those two things are intertwined in every faucet.  I know that women (with their spouse) possess the divine ability to create children with heavenly father. Not all women are capable because of their bodies but in their heart and mind they have the same motivations and yearnings and should be used for the betterment of society in the same way a mother with her biological children does. This ability sometimes considered a right is very often taken lightly. I myself have been a culprit of this very same offense. I hope to help encourage women of all walks of life to evaluate their current postion in life; daughter, wife, mother, step-mother, aunt, grandmother, friend to wake up the real challenges and responsibilities of today's society's. We can change societys ways and make this world a more wholesome family friendly place to live, laugh and love TOGETHER.

New Blog

Good morning new blog. This is a new year and the start of a new blog. A very exciting step in sharing what i know. I love my god and my church, my husband, children, our awesome extended family, my craft room (a place of sanity when all seems crazy), natural healing and essential oils, and learning in all ways traditional or not. I have a joyful life. Granted not everyday is joyful but in all I truly love life and all the sweet fruit I can eat of it.
